Privacy Policy 

Consent to Treatment 

By engaging in therapy services with Scenic Therapy, you acknowledge that therapy will be provided by Dayle Harte (Accredited Mental Health Social Worker) who adheres to the AASW Code of Ethics 2020 and the AASW Practice Standards 2023. 

Therapeutic approaches may include evidence based methods such as CBT, ACT, Mindfulness, and trauma-informed care, tailored to your individual needs.

Please note that Scenic Therapy does not provide formal mental health diagnoses. If your presentation falls outside the scope of practice, a referral to the appropriate service will be made and therapy with Scenic Therapy will be discontinued.

Collection and Use of Personal Information 

Scenic Therapy collects personl information, including but not limited to your name, contact details, health history, and emergency contacts to provide effective theraputic services. 

Session notes and records are stored securely in line with the Australian Privacy Principles and AASW guidelines, retained for 7 years and then destroyed.

Your information may be used to:

- Understand your needs and tailor treatment.

- Refer you to other services if needed.

- Communicate with relevant health professionals involved in your care (with your consent)

- Manage appointments, billing and administrative tasks.

- Support clinical supervision and service improvement using de-identified information.

You may request access to your records in writing, noting some limits apply under legislation.

Duty of Care and Limits to Confidentiality. 

Confidentiality is fundamental at Scenic Therapy. Your information will not be disclosed without your consent except in the following circumstances.

1. Risk of Harm 

If there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or to others, appropriate action will be taken to ensure safety, which may include contacting emergency services or relevant parties.

2. Child Protection / Neglect / Abuse / Sexual Assault of minors (Under 18)

If there is reasonable grounds to suspect abuse or neglect of a child (Under 18), reports will be made to the appropriate authorities as required by law.

3. Legal Requirements

If required by court order or law, records may be disclosed accordingly.
